Nerdapalooza Video Awards
Starting a new tradition at Nerdapalooza, 2010 will be kicking off the first ever Nerdapalooza Video Awards. Just as Nerdapalooza celebrates the musicians of the different nerd music genres, we would now like to establish it as a place to celebrate producers and directors that support the scene with making music videos. We will take some time to recognize the music videos and the artists that create them during Nerdapalooza 2010.
To submit a video, find which category your video fits in, and email hex AT nerdapalooza DOT org with the subject:
“Music Video Submission : [Name of Song] by [Name of Artist] : [Category]”
where the items in brackets are replaced accordingly. In the email, include a link to the Youtube video (videos MUST be uploaded to Youtube for consistency) as well as a paragraph describing the video for the Nerdapalooza website. The Deadline for this is March 1, 2010. There will be NO exceptions. Any videos made between January 1st and March 1st, 2010, will be eligible for the 2011 Nerdapalooza Video Awards.
Category :: Best Music Video of 2009
The top category, this is designed to celebrate the videos made within the last year. Any music video that has been posted on Youtube during the 2009 year will be eligible for this category.
Category :: Best Music Video Prior to 2009
As the first Nerdapalooza Video Awards, we want to have a chance to not only recognize the music videos made in the last year, but also videos made prior to 2009.
Category :: Best Fan Made Video Prior to 2010
All videos made by fans without the explicit permission of the artist fit into this category. Unlike the other categories, there will be no division between 2009 videos and prior for this category.
Requirements
- All videos must be directly based off of a song that is described by the performing artist as “nerdy” in order to be applicable.
- All videos must be uploaded to Youtube, for consistency reasons. Their category eligibility will be decided by their upload date. If a video is re-uploaded to be eligible for another category, it and all other videos from that submitter will be disqualified for that year.
- To qualify, a video must have more than one continuous shot of a live performance. If there was artistic intent that contradicts with this requirement, contact hex AT nerdapalooza DOT org and we can come to an amiable agreement.
- With the exception of the Fan Made Category, all videos must be made with the explicit consent of the artist
Judging
There will be two rounds of judging for the NVAs. The first round will be peer based. The Nerdapalooza website will facilitate a voting event from March until May where fans will decide the top five videos for each category based on a plurality vote. Any and all will be allowed to vote during the first round. The second round will be based on a panel of non-bias judges. The Nerdapalooza Team will determine the members of the panel and announce the members before Nerdapalooza 2010. Between May and June is when the winning videos will be determined. The winning video will be announced at Nerdapalooza 2010.
Prize
The team responsible for the winning video will receive a trophy indicating they won the 2009 Nerdapalooza Video Awards. They will also have their video shown in its entirety immediately before a headliner at Nerdapalooza 2010. Other prizes may be announced later.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment, and hex will respond within a reasonable amount of time. Thank you and good luck!
