Venue, Price, Changes, and MORE!

I want to start off with thanking everyone for being so patient for the announcing of the venue and apologize for it taking so long to finally get to this point. However, through it all, we are extremely proud to unveil the location of Nerdapalooza 2010.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Orlando Airport Marriott:

Located conveniently close to the airport, this will make transportation between the airport and the venue a non-issue with their complimentary shuttle service. The hotel was recently renovated so it feels and looks better than brand new.

The room that the actual Nerdapalooza musical event will take place in is the Grand Ballroom, which measures to be around 10,000 square feet – almost five times the size of the event area of 2009. This year we will return to a two-stage format. A review of the strengths and weaknesses of the past two years revealed that a prominent factor in staying on time in 2008 and falling behind in 2009 was the presence of a second stage. This also means fewer down times between acts and more prep time so technical issues should drop.

Nerdapalooza attendees will also get a discounted rate in our beautiful venue. $89 a night will get you the amenities of a (X)-Star hotel with two Doubles or a King and the convenience of being only an elevator away from the festivities. To upgrade to an executive king will be $149 a night and to a one bedroom suite will be $169 a night. A part of the renovation has been the inclusion of an addition to the rooms called the Jack Pack where connectivity to computers or video games to the room’s flatscreen televisions is facilitated. They’re still installing Jack Packs in the hotel rooms, starting top to bottom, so when you reserve, make sure you ask for a higher floor. Whatever you choose, you’re definitely gonna want to stay with the Marriott as there will be certain prizes available only to the first two-hundred Nerdapalooza attendees that make reservations there. The Marriott is still working on the details on the room reservations. We will have a direct link to take advantage of the room reservation by Monday at the latest, so we will let you know when that’s public.

Now, before you do anything, I have to let you know that in order to get this venue – our dream location for Nerdapalooza 2010 – we had to change the date. The new date for Nerdapalooza 2010 is July 17th and 18th. This date change has allowed some opportunities and deprived us of others. Sadly, Dual Core will no longer be available to perform due to a scheduling conflict, but we’re already working on getting him for 2011 to make up for it. We had other venue options, but we chose to take the old date and inconveniences that the change might cause and trade it in for a superior overall festival experience. We fully apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but promise that with this venue locked in, it will be an event for the record books. We have updated this site and the Facebook Event to reflect this date change.

Now that we have a finalized date, venue, and at least one headliner, it’s about to time to start selling tickets, right? Well, last year tickets were $30 for the weekend and $20 for individual days. You’d think with a venue vastly larger than last year we might want to raise prices a little. Well, as one more “We’re REALLY sorry” for changing the date, we’ve decided to keep prices at the same level, which means it’ll only be $30 for the weekend of Nerdapalooza 2010 and $20 for individual days. With our lineup expected to be about 30 performances deep, that’ll be about a dollar a performance! Ticket sales will be available by Monday as well, so watch for that post. If any retailers are interested in selling physical Nerdapalooza tickets in your store, feel free to contact hex AT nerdapalooza DOT org for details.

That’s it for this week. Tune in to next week’s Nerdy Show, the official Nerdapalooza podcast, where we will announce a few artists! I look forward to partying with y’all in July!

Much nerdy love,

[hex]

  2. The venue looks great and the extra space will be very much appreciated. I am glad to have a venue! That said, I will definitely miss Dual Core. Nerdapalooza is pretty much the one time per year I get to see 80, and he will be sorely missed.

will the dual stage be side-by-side or front/back? (as a audio/video tech for convention shows (day job), i’ve always thought front/back was cool idea, just never seen it)
