Nerdapalooza IV: A New Grope

May 08, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

TECHNICALLY, this is really going to be the SIXTH Nerdapalooza. There was (in order) Nerdapalooza SE 2007, Nerdapalooza Beta, Nerdapalooza UK, Nerdapalooza SE 2008, Nerdapalooza 2009, and THIS is gonna be Nerdapalooza 2010. I mean, if you’re truly playing the home game. However, this is the fourth year of Nerdapalooza, so I think the Star Wars allusion should still be accurate. I know it’s been a while since I last posted, but look at it this way: I’ve been saving up all the amazing announcements since the last post til now. So great ready for a big pile of awesome!

Let’s start with talking about our two new announced sponsors!! We’ve already announced Play N Trade Orlando Square, but another PNT local store, Play N Trade Oviedo, has also decided to sponsor us. They may sound familiar as they also sponsor Nerdy Show. The Play N Trades (or would it be Plays N Trade…) are combining forces to bring Nerdapalooza a ROCKIN’ Video Game Room, where people can take a break from too much epic and do some gaming. Our second AMAZING sponsor who we are VERY proud to announce is Cloudspace, the phenomenal web application development group based out of Orlando. They are the home of a lot of awesome innovation, so if you are a start-up looking to kick the snot out of the competition on the electronic playing field, these are the peeps to talk to. :D

Next up, we are opening up the Volunteer Application process. This year, we are going to be changing up the volunteer process. After being burned a few times over the last year, we have decided that this year we will try something new with volunteers: instead of automatically getting free entry to Nerdapalooza 2010, volunteers will have to buy weekend tickets, and then after a weekend of getting stuff done (or possibly work BEFORE the event itself), you will be reimbursed your entry fee. This will only happen if our Volunteer Coordinator, Andrea, believes you’ve done a worthy job. We apologize if this causes any inconveniences, but this is a model we’re borrowing from other festivals. So, head on over to the Volunteer Application page and get signed up today!!

Now comes the fun bit… announcing a LOT of artists!! Over the last few weeks, we’ve announced a few artists over at Nerdy Show: The Protomen, ZeaLouS1 and his new band: the Bossfights, the return of Shael Riley and the Double Ice Backfire, and this week we announced the amazing comic book band Kirby Krackle, who recently turned some heads over at C2E2. Just as the Nerdapalooza tradition of outstanding performances like Schaffer and IFD, I’m expecting Kirby Krackle to turn some heads this year! The lesson of this is, of course, that Nerdy Show is gonna continue getting the hot details of Nerdapalooza before the blog, so you better go subscribe!!

Yet, that’s not all!! We STILL have some more amazing talent to announce, including the INCREDIBLE reunion of The Adventures of Duane and BrandO, the return of EMPulse artists HDNinja and 3P!C-1, and Rappy McRapperson with his first ever Nerdapalooza appearance!! Also making a first ever appearance, and our second announced artist for the Nerdapalooza Pre-Party is FuMP sideshower, Insane Ian!! Wow… what is that nine artists announced in one blog? Pretty crazy, huh?

So, before you leave, if you haven’t yet, head on over and buy a ticket, or if you can afford it, save yourself the future worry and pick up a lifetime pass to Nerdapalooza. I can promise you that we’re only gonna keep on improving. You’ll be swearing up a storm once you realize what you missed out on when they’re all gone!

That’s all I got for now, folks!! I shall be back next week, hopefully with more crazy news!! Want to sponsor Nerdapalooza? Got a crazy Nerdapalooza idea, or just got a question? Hit me up over at hex AT nerdapalooza DOT org. I’ll try my best to respond in a prompt manner! Much nerdy love

Pizza-loving Proto-Panties

April 14, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

Now that I have your confusion, here’s a quick mid-week post for those of you that haven’t started listening to Nerdy Show yet. First, let’s announce that Nerdapalooza was recently featured in the Orlando Weekly’s Annual Manual, listed as one of twelve Orlando events “you really shouldn’t miss.”

Less a music festival and more a geek pride event, but you’ll be surprised by the bands.

I’d argue that we’re a full on music festival, but not against the bit about it being more of a geek pride event. ^_^

While we’re on the topic of bands, I’d love to announce two more bands that we’ll be showcasing at Nerdapalooza! Local heroes, Emergency Pizza Party will be returning to the stage. We’ll also be hosting for the first time the Ohio comedy music duo,Positive Attitude. Check both out if you haven’t heard them before. We’ll have some more names for ya next week!

Coming up this Monday is a PHENOMENAL event in Orlando involving The Protomen, Killer Robots!, and Krondor Krew. This is gonna be one HELLUVA’n event and you should NOT miss it!! Go over to the Facebook event to reserve and get all the details!!

The last bit of our announcements is something I’m pretty dang excited about. As y’all know, Schaffer the Darklord is gonna be making his way down here and rocking your faces off at this year’s Nerdapalooza. Something you may be aware of is that he is heavily involved in a burlesque show up in New York called Epic Win. Pretty nifty. If only there were some way for him to bring something so awesome to Nerdapalooza…

WHAT’S THAT, SCHAFFER?! THE EPIC WIN GIRLS ARE COMING WITH YOU TO DO A SPECIAL AFTER-HOURS EPIC WIN BURLESQUE SHOW AT NERDAPALOOZA!?!
:) We’re still working on the details, but needless to say it’s going to be pretty awesome. Don’t believe me? Just check out the photo from the recent Batman themed Epic Win show…

Epic Win Batman Cast

WOW!! It’ll be an after-hours show that’ll be $5 at the door, all cash going straight to the girls. This is not going to be something you want to miss!!

That’s all we got for now! Usual blog coming out on Friday. :) Much nerdy love!

Nerdapalooza and the Barrage of Nerdy Musicians

April 03, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

This week on Nerdapalooza, we have an array of artists to announce on ya, as well as the creation of a dedicated artist page for convenient perusal, but where’s the drama if I unload that immediately? Let’s run through the [hex] report first, shall we?

First off is a reminder about the Final Boss Club: it’s only $350 for a lifetime pass to Nerdapalooza and a whole heap of prizes. However, if that’s out of your price range, and you’d like to get your mitts on a ticket to Nerdapalooza 2010 before the imminent ticket sale, they are available for $100, and that includes t-shirt, CD, sticker, a thank you and the warm fuzzy feeling of donating to Nerdapalooza.

Next up, released for April Fool’s Day was the relatively unexpected sequel to the old OCR/ThaSauce Duck Hunt Album, ROFL: Repercussions of Fowl Lamentations. Sgt. Rama of ThaSauce coordinated the new parody Duck Hunt HD Remix album in a matter of a few days. The collective of artists somehow developed 32 separate and very unique tracks from a game that has a complete soundtrack that can fit in the period of sixty seconds (sound bytes included). I got to assist as “co-director” by gathering last minute tracks, as well as pump out the following alternative album art.duckHunt

DOWNLOAD NOW PLZ

For all you Orlando locals, if you aren’t doing anything tonight (April 3rd), you should head on over to Stardust for the Marc with a C show! I’ve been told it will not only have a wealth of fan favs and new songs but songs that haven’t been played live for a year or two now. Since a recent House episode starred Laura Prepon of That 70s Show fame, it seems like Laura could use some medicine. ;) All details on the show are readily available on the event’s Facebook page.

Next up, we are proud to announce a returning sponsor from last year, Enemy Ink!! For two years now, they’ve made our awesome t-shirts and we’re excited to work with them again. This year, however, there’s a new, fun element to their sponsorship! If you are interested in having merchandise at Nerdapalooza for any reason, they are interested in working with you AND giving you a special Nerdapalooza discount! The fun part? You won’t even need to pick it up! Make the order, and then Team Nerdapalooza will make sure it’s delivered to you on the day of the event. Nifty, huh? Details for that are coming soon!

Well, without further ado, it’s time to reveal some performers! If you had listened to this past week’s Nerdy Show, you would have not only heard an exclusive Krondor Krew track, but also heard those sneaky ninjas will be once again performing at Nerdapalooza! Joining them from the world of nerdcore are the ominous Schaffer the Darklord, returning to blow your mind once again, and, returning after a year off, MegaRan! Next up, we have home town wizarding heroes The House of Black and Fred Lives rocking up a storm, only a week after the opening of Wizarding World, so they may be bringing some more wizardly friends with them. And then to wrap up our announcements this week, I am VERY excited to bring you, from the phenomenal Funny Music Project community: Devo Spice, The great Luke Ski and Worm Quartet, to show you exactly why funny music is awesome! I am a big fan of Devo and Luke, and am REALLY excited to finally get to see Worm Quartet live. Comedy Synth Punk? What can go wrong!?

Well, that’s what we got: an album, a show, a sponsor, and EIGHT new artists! Oh, did I forget to mention the conveniently placed Artist Confirmation page? Sorry it took so long to get that active, but now that we have a third of our acts booked, we thought you’d like it :D

Much nerdy love

Nerdapalooza and the Adventure of the Final Boss

March 19, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

Another year, another volley of stories of the kick-ass variety from this year’s SXSW. While there are some reasons I’m glad I’m nowhere near the Lone Star State, I’m just not sure they trump this. Oh well, there will always be Nerdapalooza to hopefully see that line up, amirite?

For those that missed it, MegaCon was this weekend, and it was definitely a helluva fun time. I mainly hung with the Nerdy Show crew (with my best friend, Bob, in tow for the weekend), but I did end up giving away a few Nerdapalooza t-shirts. Congrats to @SilverWordz, btw, for being the awesome GhostBuster to win a Nerdapalooza shirt by recognizing me. :D

Now, to the REAL big news!! A bit ago, I intimated that Team Nerdapalooza was toying with offering a lifetime membership pass. Well, the time is nigh to announce it. We are launching the Final Boss Club for Nerdapalooza, which will consist of only 50 lucky individuals. Once we sell our 50 club spots, they are GONE. Now, what exactly will you get for being in the Final Boss Club, I hear you ask.

  • Lifetime pass to any and every Nerdapalooza sponsored show
  • VIP Access to any Nerdapalooza show you attend (where applicable)
  • Nerdapalooza Final Boss Club T-Shirt
  • Digital copies of any and every release that Nerdapalooza makes, musical, DVD, or otherwise
  • Special exclusive goodie at every Nerdapalooza Annual Festival

As well as other treats that will open up as the years progress. This is an opportunity available only this year until June 1st. Once June rolls around, we will no longer be making this available ever again. All of this will be available for a $350 Donation to our KickStarter page.

For those that are unable to make the $350, there are other opportunities available through the KickStarter page:

  • $1 Donation A thank you in our program
  • $10 Donation A thank you and a sticker
  • $25 Donation A thank you, sticker, and t-shirt
  • $50 Donation A thank you, sticker, t-shirt, and CD
  • $100 Donation All of that AND a ticket to Nerdapalooza

So, head on over and check out the Nerdapalooza donation page!

With that, we are proud to announce our next performing group! Returning after a year off to fight for the Cosmic Potato, we have the unstoppable Killer Robots to once again save the day! For those that are unfamiliar with the Killer Robots, you are in for a treat!

Last bit before running off and working on stuff for the day: my pal, Genoboost, over at GM4A is working with Nobuooo.com to bring you a brand new collaborative music project: IWADON Hiroyuki Iwatsuki Tribute Album. I wasn’t sure really who Hiroyuki Iwatsuki was, but a little research later, and I started getting excited for this project. As in the GM4A tradition, it is running the gamut of awesome genres in a 100 minute album that is gonna be released next Wednesday! However, if you happened to be going to PAX East and wanted to discuss the album with Geno first hand, there WILL be a Friday panel where he’ll be with this subject in mind! Also, in the GM4A tradition, it’ll be a free release, so what’s not to like? Still not convinced? Then I shall leave you with this. Enjoy :)

Three Years Old and Already Walking!

March 12, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

I know that all you parents out there are gonna call my baby a little slow on the uptake to have taken three years to walk, but when it’s a festival you’re talking about, that’s something to definitely brag about! As the story goes, three years ago, while helping with the Battle of the Bands show for my college’s radio station, KRFH,, the idea of Nerdapalooza dawned on me. What a ride it has been!! The beauty is that we haven’t even really gotten started yet! Last year we had 500 attendees and raised $5400 for Child’s Play. We are determined to shatter both of those records this year!

Now, if someone had told me three years ago that Nerdapalooza was going to be on some level playing field with PAX and San Diego Comic Con in only three years, I would have just laughed at them. However, as we posted last week, Nerdapalooza has been nominated for the Best Geek Event of 2009 by the GeekDad blog over at Wired.com! Interestingly enough, GeekDad seems to have a very similar conception date as Nerdapalooza (March 15, 2007). It must have been some cosmic geeky star alignment! However, you have until this Sunday, March 14th, to vote for Nerdapalooza!! So please head on over and vote!! Please tell your friends, your family, and your pets to do the same! Wouldn’t it be crazy if we somehow stole the gold? :D

I have a theory that a big reason why Nerdapalooza is in the running for Best Event in the first place is thanks to my good pal, Z. of Hipster, Please!, who I never seem to be able to thank enough for all the kindness he has shown Nerdapalooza and myself over the years! This continues even today as he kicks off this year’s pre-press wave with a question for his readers: who do you want to see at this year’s Nerdapalooza? Head on over and post your thoughts on who you’d like to see, as well as Z.’s suggestions, which are always put into consideration. ;)

Along the lines of Nerdapalooza announcements, we don’t have much to give ya this week, as the bulk of the festival team are preparing for MegaCon this weekend. We’re not going to have a heavy force, but you may see me (hex) walking around in my Nerdapalooza shirt hanging with Team Nerdy Show or over at the A Comic Shop booth, or Masurao in Ninja garb, or Nina staring at him embarrassed.

While we’re on the topic of Cons, I thought I’d kick back to life the idea I had a while ago for a “free song of the day,” except in a manageable weekly format. This week, I’d like to showcase none other than Pros and Cons by Shael Riley and Jiggin Jon T of OC Remix fame. The lyrics will make you chuckle pretty hard when at your next convention. (Warning: this song has naughty words in it) Download the Track

Back to Nerdy Show real quick before I wrap up for today, if you’re a fan of chiptunes and/or space, I highly recommend downloading our latest episode, where our guest, Pixelh8, announced he’ll be mailing a cardboard cutout of himself for this year’s Nerdapalooza, which is pretty dang cool!! Also, I would like to announce, for any that didn’t catch my excitement yesterday. that Team Nerdy Show has had our press passes confirmed for E3! Add that to our growing list that includes MegaCon and August’s Star Wars Celebration, Nerdy Show is starting to become an actual press entity! I bring this, of course, as it is the official Nerdapalooza podcast, and you can often hear early Nerdapalooza news leaked on there before it makes it to the blog. We plan on giving away a ticket or two over there soon, so tuning in now may be your best chance to get in to Nerdapalooza for free!

Also, if you can’t wait and just NEED to get your hands on a ticket to Nerdapalooza, no matter the cost, may I recommend checking out the KickStarter page for the music video Keeping Track? Cap, of Nerdy Show, helped put it together, and is looking for funding in order to finance the graphics needed to finalize the video. Apparently if you’re a heavy donor, you can get your hands on a Nerdapalooza ticket!!

Anywho, that’s all I got for now, folks! Have a great weekend, and look for next week, where we should have a few more announcements of weight for ya!

Much nerdy love

Nerdapasomethingorother

March 05, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

First off, let me apologize for the length of time since the last blog. It’s been kind of crazy over here, negotiating with sponsors, artists, and other important sounding things. We have a lot we’d like to announce, but as a lot of the details aren’t concrete yet, we are unable to spill the secrets.

I found the next bit out mid-blog, and had to backtrack to put it up here, as I find it so important! Our pals over at GeekDad have thrown together the First Ever GeekDad Awards, and I was a little shocked to see the ONLY Geek Event representing the East Coast (or anywhere BUT the West Coast :P ) is Nerdapalooza!! Wow! That’s a helluva honor, and we’re proud to even have been nominated. But if we were to win… that would be some crazy notoriety! Why don’t you pause the blog and head over and vote on some stuff. It’s okay, I’ll wait. :)

Welcome back! Since you were so nice to vote, we’d like to now reward you by announcing our first wave of artists. Two artists, each proudly returning for their third iteration of Nerdapalooza are nerd pop hometown hero, Marc with a C, and the rapping and hacking sensation of Ohio, Dual Core! Marc has just released a new album, so if you weren’t familiar with him, now’s a great chance to learn more. int eighty of Dual Core was rudely shoved off-stage by yours truly after a popular demand for an encore last year… hopefully that won’t happen again! (The rude shoving, that is. By all means, still cheer him for an encore!) And the last announcement for this week is a newcomer to Nerdapalooza who we’re proud to announce, Sci-Fried, the amazing sci-fi parody rock group from Orlando! They’re currently on tour of the local Con circuit, and we’re honored to be a part of that.

Next, Nerdapalooza is proud to announce that we will be continuing our partnership with EMPulse Records, who has done sound and live recording with Nerdapalooza for the past two years. As sound quality was a predominant complain with last year’s show, EMPulse has reassured the Nerdapalooza Team that it’ll no longer be an issue.

We are also very proud to announce the sponsorship of Starbound Creative. They will be filming the bulk of the show, which might result in a sexy DVD for sale over at the Nerdapalooza Store. As we’re on the topic of recordings, if you haven’t yet, why don’t you swing over and pick up a copy of last year’s concert album? Remember: all profits from that album go to Child’s Play!

Speaking of Child’s Play, we are now able to announce that we raised over $5,400 for the charity with last year’s show! We broke our goal of doubling the contribution from the year before! You helped us do that and we are truly grateful. Child’s Play shall once again be the official Nerdapalooza charity, so get ready to geek out for a good cause come June 26th and 27th!

I’ve received a few questions regarding Nerdapalooza that I’ll later upload to the FAQs page, that I’d like to take a second to answer:

Where is Nerdapalooza 2010 going to be held?

We’re still negotiating with our venue, so we are not yet ready to announce it, but suffice it to say we will once again be hosting it in Orlando, Florida.

How much are tickets for the event going to be?

Once again, we’re still in talks with that, however opportunities to obtain early tickets (free or through other means) will arise soon.

Can I still apply to perform at Nerdapalooza?

Yes!! We’re still working on our talent pool and are accepting applications. Send an email to our Artist Director, Josh, over at artist AT nerdapalooza DOT org for review. Do it soon, because we’re filling out our roster now!

blackest-night-song-fight-300However, if you want a chance to prove you are Nerdapalooza material, there is no better way than submitting a track to the Nerdy Show’s latest music competition, Blackest Night Song Fight! Neither affiliated with DC or Song Fight, this is Nerdy Show’s way of showing our appreciation for one of the best comic events in a very long time. The gist of the competition is to create an original song around the concepts and story of Blackest Night. The first place prize is a performance spot at the Nerdapalooza Pre-Party at A Comic Shop. We won’t be able to cover any costs coming out or housing you, only the guarantee of a performance slot. Head over to the Nerdy Show rules and regs of the competition for full details.

That’s all we have for this week. Hopefully we’ll be able to announce more secrets next week! Until then, please enjoy – in its entirety – Pixelh8’s performance of Obsolete? It was discussed in this interview on Nerdy Show and crowned the geekiest THING of 2009. This week, the Nerdy Show Team will have Pixelh8 back in the studio to discuss his upcoming performance, Observations! Enjoy!

Obsolete? from Pixelh8 on Vimeo.

Nerdapalooza 2009 Poster is Back and More!

January 23, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

Here we are, at the end of another week and only 22 more Fridays until Nerdapalooza 2010! Saying it that way makes me all tingly with anticipation. We’re still keeping our collective noses to the proverbial grindstone, so expect great things from this year’s Nerdapalooza. To wet your whistle and remind you of how awesome last year’s Nerdapalooza was, here’s a phenomenal vid from Corey Clark (@dudevideo on Twitter):

We would also like to announce that our buddies over at Enemy Ink have helped us get the Nerdapalooza 2009 poster back in stock! For anyone interested, you can go over to the Nerdapalooza Store and buy one. With every purchase of a 2009 poster, we’ll throw in a 2008 poster to help decorate your walls!! Previously $20 for the 2009 poster alone, we’ve decided to mark the two of them together for half the price. Only $10 for both Nerdapalooza Festival posters. This is a limited time offer while supplies last! :D

As Nerdy Show, the official Nerdapalooza podcast, gears back up for Season 3 next week, I have posted my first ever (not-for-school) book review. I recently finished Marc J. Seifer’s opus to everyone’s favorite (and historical) mad scientist in his book Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla: Biography of a Genius. You can read the review for yourself over there. The question now arises: when am I gonna review another album on this blog. The simple answer is, probably never. I’ve always had mixed feelings about doing album reviews on the Nerdapalooza blog, feeling I would be giving an opinion on behalf of the music festival instead of just myself. Don’t get me wrong, though, for I am still insistent on doing reviews (especially for the many amazing artists that have recently sent me albums to review). Fortunately, Nerdy Show thrives on the forceful opinions of the four of us hosts, making it the perfect home for new reviews. You can look forward to album reviews there, possible rehashes of old reviews, and other types of reviews besides albums and books, and not just from me, but the other three knuckleheads as well.

Next up we have a bit from the merchandising marvels, I Fight Dragons. On my way home from work on Thursday, I received a panicked text from my significant other informing me that IFD were going to sell out of DVDs. Unaware that they even had DVDs in the first place, I later learned from the IFD crew (via Twitter) that they had almost sold 200 DVD’s in their first hour of sale! Still reeling from the lightning sale of their recent major bit of merch (a lifetime fan uberpass that earned lifetime access to shows and their music, priced at $100 a pop with only 100 units available) my girl quickly swiped up a copy of the DVD commenting: “I won’t miss out on IFD merch again!” I highly recommend following the nerd music phenomena both on Twitter (@IFightDragons) and on Facebook to ensure that you won’t miss out, either.

Well, I leave you now with some I Fight Dragons. If you don’t really know who they are, I have a feeling you may in the not too distant future…

hex Report 2010

January 18, 2010 By: hex Category: Announcement

Here we are in the year 2010, the dawn of a new decade. Another MAGFest has come and gone, ringing in the New Year in the most appropriate of nerdy fashions. Once again, I was sadly unable to attend, but according to all reports, it was a monumental success! It would be folly for me (or any of you if you didn’t attend) to miss it again. 2009 showed a larger yield of nerdy events, with fledginlings like Nerd POW, W00tstock, and Nerd Invasion standing alongside classics like PAX, Blipfest, and, of course, MAGFest. While some may say Nerdapalooza 2010 will still be an adolescent compared to the other more established events, this is the year where it will prove it not only belongs with the big boys of nerd conventions and concerts, but that it will be an event to remember in the annals of nerd music.

Well, with that pomposity out of the way, we can reveal what Team Nerdapalooza has been doing:

First off, I am proud to announce that less than three years since the conception of Nerdapalooza (coincidentally on Pi Day – March 14th, 2007), we are an official company! With our new official status as a corporation, we are still interested in contacting individuals, groups, and companies that would like to sponsor Nerdapalooza 2010. The return for sponsoring us would be an increased exposure to a nerdy (and captive) demographic. We’re already in talks with more than a few companies and are looking forward to working with more. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for Nerdapalooza 2010, please contact me via email at hex AT nerdapalooza DOT org.

Now, a few of you may be aware of the podcast I’m involved with called Nerdy Show. I am proud to announce that Nerdy Show is now the official podcast of Nerdapalooza. Some of you may also be aware that in our final episode of last year, 2009 Final Boss, we declared what we thought to be the Top 20 Nerdy Events of 2009, and Nerdapalooza ranked number six on the list. While this looks like a bit more than a coincidence, the official status has been in talks for a while now. However, if Nerdapalooza were to crawl up the ranks for 2010 Final Boss, I can only hope it’ll be from merit. :)

Nerdapalooza 2010 is also still gearing up for the first annual Nerdapalooza Music Video Awards. All the facts are located on this page, however if you still have any questions, feel free to email me at hex AT nerdapalooza DOT org. We’re looking forward to many submissions, such as (already submitted) funky49’s video below:

While on the topic of submissions, many are still showing interest in applying to perform at Nerdapalooza 2010. The roster is being put together, but it is not yet finalized, so we’re still interested in hearing from you. Just send an Artist Application, as detailed here, to Josh, our Talent Director. His email is talent AT nerdapalooza DOT org. We look forward to hearing from you.

The biggest bit of nerd music related news that caught my eye since our break was that our pals over at Game Music 4 All (GM4A) not only have a spanking new website and forums, but are now a brand new net label, recently dropping their second release. We wish them luck and inform y’all that you should be keeping a trained eye on GM4A in the future, as great things always stem from there.

One last bit of news, this time more timely, Orlando favorite Marc with a C had a birthday yesterday, and in the halfling way, gave a present to all of you! Two to be precise! Over here on his website, you’ll be able to download two albums, one by the legendary “Glowy Stickers,” an amazing project between Marc and his amazing wife, Nicole. The second is an interesting return to his cover album, Share the Covers, Bitch!. Volume 2 comes with a prize for those that can pinpoint all the original artists. Marc even gave the hint that one of the tracks is an alternate version of one of his own songs!

Thanks, as always, for reading. As we get closer and closer to the event, you can bet the news will just get juicier and juicier. Until we have more to report, enjoy the following video, my favorite gem of 2009:

New Website, Nerd Invasion, and the Kitchen Sink!

October 16, 2009 By: hex Category: Announcement

Ladies and gents, thank you so much for your patience during our downtime, but Nerdapalooza 2009 was so intense that we’ve been recovering ever since. However, we’re proud to announce that we have a new website we’ll be utilizing over at Nerdapalooza.org. It currently has the same graphics as last year, but we’re working on changing it up. I’ve seem some preliminary images, and I think y’all will totally dig it.

Nerd Invasion

Next, in case y’all haven’t been paying attention to the next big awesome event coming up, in only two weeks is Nerd Invasion, coordinated by our pals Nerd Rockstar and Scrub Club. You can find out all the details and announce to the world your intent on going at the Facebook Event Page. For more up to date info, I fully advise following @nerdrockstar and @scrubclub over on Twitter! Even when they’re not talking about Nerd Invasion, you’ll get some fun and/or informative tweets rather often. And for the FULL rundown, head on over to their website for all the details.

Consequentially, Nerdapalooza has a pretty fun announcement tied to Nerd Invasion. As well as bringing t-shirts, stickers, and old posters, we will be releasing the Nerdapalooza 2009 Live CD at Nerd Invasion. If was an amazing show, so the only place to release it would be at ANOTHER amazing show! Not something you want to miss!

Well, that’s all we have for now. Thanks for supporting us, look forward to this weekly blog staying true! :D

Much nerdy love

Nerda-POD-looza :: The Nerdapalooza Podcast Reborn!

July 23, 2009 By: Editor Category: Announcement

That’s right folks, the Nerda-POD-looza, the OFFICIAL Nerdapalooza Podcast, is in the bootstrapping stages right now.

Artists rendition of the first professional podcast

Artist's rendition of the first professional podcast

For those that are new to the Nerdapalooza experience, we used to have a weekly podcast where we would talk about Nerdapalooza news weekly and play new music and showcase Nerdapalooza artists. I’m currently working with our longtime supporter A Comic Shop on reviving that. You can watch the progress of Nerda-POD-looza over at it’s new site: NerdaPODlooza.com

Exciting times! Stay tuned, o faithful nerdom. :)
